This publication was created to accompany the exhibition Wheturangitia/Made As Stars
(03 Sep 2022 – 19 Feb 2023). This show explored the real-time lived relationships first cultures have with their gods through the work of contemporary Indigenous artists from around the world.
The book features exhibition images and nine essays with topics like Indigenous philosophy, the politics of place and the power of language to define how we think about non-Western histories and whakapapa (lineage). Contributors include scholars from Aotearoa and beyond including Brian Martin, Carl Mika and Te Kahuratai Moko-Painting.
