Marie Shannon has made intimate thoughtful works for over thirty years, with photography as her principal medium. Critically acclaimed and producing new work very slowly, Shannon’s quiet works speak to the narrative or poetic resonance of the single object. Comparatively small in scale and exemplary in technique, her works carry remarkable emotional density and weight, and are satisfying over time. The Arena suite brings our attention to Donald Judd’s own designed and built furniture at The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, being photographs of her watercolours drawn there on site whilst living there during partner Julian Dashper’s Chinati Residency.
