Michael Harrison, is a watercolour painter. Harrison’s paintings are small in scale, works that grow large in the mind. The paintings are gentle and loving, tinged with melancholy and regret, part of Harrison’s strange, lyrical world.

Harrison takes his subjects from books, photographs, tarot cards, dreams and art history. His subjects are understated, appropriated images of women, couples, faces and animals. Harrison’s watercolours conjure dreamlike, symbolic and allegorical representations of archetypes and events. The works are an intimate network of public and private iconography, as unsettling as they are playful.
