Jeena Shin works primarily on canvas and in large-scale wall installations and site-specific configurations. Shin’s works are distinctive and refined, using variations and repetitions of ever-evolving geometric forms to produce symmetry and asymmetry.

Shin is interested in transitional spaces and the existing and altered structures that inhabit them. She sees space as permeable, using the natural properties of light to change and enhance the resonance of her works. Each viewing of Shin’s work is a changed one, time, perception and consciousness shifting as the light does, revealing subtle changes in form, tone and colour.She seeks to subvert binary states and perceptions, gently drawing out vibrancy and delicacy from surfaces that could be seen as closed, or unyielding. Shin draws out and lays bare the inside and outside, fold and unfold.
