In the context of Door, window, world: Maree Horner, J.C. Sturm, join Artspace Aoteara for The Ani Waaka Room on Thursday 30 March at 6pm.
Poet Debbie Broughton reads from her debut collection titled The Ani Waaka Room. Broughton’s collection celebrates the survival of Taranaki ancestors who were forced by war to leave their homelands for Te Aro Pā. As in the late poetry of J.C. Sturm, The Ani Waaka Room weaves together fragments of whakapapa, daily life, and government atrocities.
Broughton will be joined in conversation by writer Leonie Kapea who will read selected favourites from J.C. Sturm.
All welcome, no RSVP required.
