Join us for an evening of conversation and education at Puke Ariki as we host the second of three wānanga that will build on the ideas presented in our latest exhibition Nekenekehia Tukua.

“Hui Wānanga: A conversation between audience and speakers”

Hear from an array of Kai Korero (Guest speakers) including Murali Bhaskar, Lead Design Architect at BOON Ltd; Tania Niwa, Grand Master Photographer; Haoro Hond, Taranaki based artist and Te Ingo Ngaia, Te Ingo Ngaia, Pouwhakarauora Reo ki Taranaki.

This wānanga will ask what it means to reclaim the design space for Toi Māori and re-establish Toi Māori in the built environment. With leaders from the art, design and architecture industries, we will explore copyright, IP, data sovereignty and access. What, how, and who engages across the design profession? When, where, and how does Toi Māori engage with industry? We welcome the general public along with Taranaki-based artists, designers and architects to join us at this free event as we consider these important topics.

Damon Ritai, Deputy National Coordinator at Te Arahou o Aotearoa, will be the Kai Pūkorero (host) of the evening, guiding our speakers and audience through this two-way conversation.

We encourage all those who participate to actively engage in this discussion, sharing in this important conversation with the group.
