Ever wondered what it would be like to watch Lindsay Lohan movies non-stop for over 25 hours? Claire Harris has done exactly that, multiple times, and lived to tell the tale. In Happy Birthday Lindsay Lohan, 2011-2021, on display in current Dowse exhibition Steamed Hams, Harris has created an artwork she describes as “performance art meets teenage sleep-over.” Come along to hear curator Dr Chelsea Nichols ask Harris the big questions, such as “How?”, and “Why?” Delve into Lohan’s filmography and get lessons on the stamina required for a true movie marathon from an expert in the field.

Born in Gore in a pre-digital era, Claire Harris’ was raised on TV, books and dreams of escape. Using narrative media such as video, installation and live performance and frequently drawing on celebrity and fan cultures, her work embraces obsession, humour, trauma and longing.

Harris completed a Master of Fine Arts at Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts, Massey University in 2019.
