Join McLeavey Gallery for a very special event with Robin White and one of her collaborators, Ogawa Taeko. ⁣ ⁣ Robin has had a deep and lifelong interest in Japan and particularly Hiroshima and in 2018 Robin was given the opportunity to travel to Japan. During her time in Japan Robin visited Hatsukaichi, the sister city of her home town of Masterton. In Hatsukaichi arrangements were made for Robin to meet a local artist, Ogawa Taeko, a contemporary artist and calligrapher. Upon meeting Taeko Robin realised they shared similar convictions and soon plans were underway for a collaborative project. Robin also met Yoshishige Tanaka, a respected artisan in Kyoto, a maker of folding screens and hanging scrolls. ⁣ ⁣ Robin returned to Japan in 2019 to work in collaboration with Taeko, with plans for Yoshishige Tanaka to complete the making of their folding screen. The extraordinary works they produced together, including Before, Between and Beyond All Things, were first exhibited at McLeavey gallery in October 2019. ⁣ ⁣ McLeavey are thrilled that both Robin and Taeko will be in the gallery tomorrow, Friday 27 October. McLeavey invite you to join them from 12pm (midday). Robin and Taeko will give a talk at 12.15pm. ⁣ ⁣ A number of works by Robin will be on display. Light refreshments will be provided. ⁣
