Made while on residency in Ōtepoti Dunedin, The Fall is a major new work by Christopher Ulutupu (Samoa/Niue/Germany). In this two-channel digital video installation, Ulutupu explores parallels between dystopian plotlines from page and screen and the post-colonial discourse of dismantling capitalism. Asking simply ‘what happens when it all falls away?’, he unpacks what this idea of post-capitalism might look like and reflects on what remains, endures, or indeed triumphs, in the wake of chaos, instability and change.
