Objecstpace is Introducing a three-day celebration of all things ceramics: Breaking Ground.

This event series begins with a day-long symposium looking at ceramics practice in Aotearoa today, followed by a day of workshops and a market day. Find out more, get tickets, and get involved through the links below:


Breaking Ground: Ceramics Symposium
10am – 5.30pm, Thursday 6 June

A wealth of practitioners from across the motu will share insights into their work, studios and careers (see programme details below), followed by a keynote lecture from 6pm with international visitor Glenn Barkley.


Breaking Ground: Ockham Lecture with Glenn Barkley
6pm – 7pm, Thursday 6 June

In this Ockham Lecture, artist, writer and curator Barkley will explore the ever changing fate and state of ceramics as it becomes entangled with the problems of recent pasts and possible futures.


Breaking Ground: Ceramics Workshops
10am – 4pm, Saturday 8 June

Get your hands into some clay with ceramic practitioners Fiona Mackay, Stevei Hōukamau and Ben Pyne.


Breaking Ground: Ceramics Market
11am – 3pm, Sunday 9 June

Find your new favourite mug or that perfect sized noodle bowl from one of Tāmaki Makaurau’s finest ceramic makers. Objectspace’s first ceramics market will include tables from thirty four makers – if you'd like to be one of them, get in touch with Olivia at olivia@objectspace.org.nz.
