In the lead up to their new exhibition Pohewa Pāhewa, join Objectspace for a Coffee & Croissants conversation with Noa Blankets Co founders Whakaawa and Joshua Te Kani.

Joshua and Whakaawa will speak to the kaupapa behind Noa Blankets and hohou te rongo: the role of cultural design in the restoration and enhancement of our well-being.

Noa Blanket Co weave luxury New Zealand Wool blankets that share unique stories of Aotearoa. Made here and informed by Māori design, Noa release their work in limited series and offer woven to order designs.

Noa has re-established and further embellished an iconic national treasure, the NZ woollen blanket, providing more opportunities to celebrate Aotearoa stories and art in woven textile.

The gallery will remain open until 3pm on Sunday 25 June, with a display of Noa Blankets archive and new releases installed for you to visit.

Noa Blankets Co was founded by Tauranga locals Whakaawa and Joshua Te Kani in December 2021. Whakaawa has an eye for design and textiles, whilst Joshua has a passion for traditional Māori knowledge, art and history. Together they create ways to share and apply these learnings as contemporary craft.

Noa Blankets Co values the knowledge of identity and the role it plays in fostering connectedness, acknowledging our relationships with people and to places. Identity has become a foudnaiton for positive growth and development, and a springboard for their aspirations.

Coffee & Croissants is a conversation series supported by Allpress Espresso and Daily Bread.
