Ekphrasis – a two day creative writing workshop for children
9-11 year olds, 9am-10:30am, Monday 7th and Wednesday 9th October
12-14 year olds, 11:00am-12:30pm, Monday 7th and Wednesday 9th October
$20 for both days. Children need to be able to attend both sessions.
Looking for something new for your kids to do in the school holidays? Come along to an innovative creative writing workshop for kids aged 9-14. Under the tuition of Keryn Mells and Kirsten Le Harivel, children will have the chance to explore an age-old technique – ekphrasis – or the practice of writing responses to selected works on show at Toi MAHARA.
In the first session, they will draft some writing. In the second they will respond to feedback and refine their writing. After the workshops, the children will receive a postcard showcasing their writing and the artwork they’ve responded to. All materials supplied. All children welcome whatever their writing ability!
