Pamela Gerrish Nunn will discuss the artworks in the Selections from the Field Collection exhibition.
Toi MAHARA is the home of the Field Collection, a collection of 44 works, 24 of them paintings by Frances Hodgkins (1869–1947), considered New Zealand’s most significant expatriate artist. It is the largest collection of Hodgkins’ work outside Te Papa Tongarewa and city collections in Dunedin, Auckland and Christchurch.
This exhibition will be the first showing of the works of the Field Collection in the newly redeveloped Toi MAHARA gallery.
In this talk, Pamela Gerrish Nunn will discuss the artworks, their relevance to the exhibition, and their place in the collection.
Dr Pamela Gerrish Nunn, formerly professor of art history at the University of Canterbury, is well known internationally as a specialist on women artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
