On Thursday 23 January, 6pm Te Tuhi presents a talk by Sunjung Kim, Artistic Director of the Art Sonje Center in Seoul.

The kōrero focuses on the group exhibition Forms of the Shadow, which Kim curated, shown at Vienna Secession, Austria from 20 September - 17 November 2024.

Dealing with current topics like border, migration and ecological aspects, the exhibition highlighted the contemporary shadows unveiled by the pandemic, the climate crisis, and geopolitical tensions. Through this thematic fil rouge, it challenged the audience to consider global interconnectedness and the troubles of navigating difficult times. Comprising sculptures, paintings, embroideries, and performance, Forms of the Shadow provided hints about nature's resilience in the face of human interference, as well as the perseverance to pursue hope among adversity.

Everyone is welcome to attend the kōrero. Light refreshments will be provided.

Kim's visit to Aotearoa has been made possible thanks to the generous support of Asia New Zealand Foundation.
