Isn’t there something irresistible about objects that flop and jiggle? In this playful hands-on workshop with renowned silicone artist, Caitlin Devoy, participants are introduced to the life casting process. Exploring material and form, participants will create casts of fingers, ears and everyday objects using silicone materials.
This workshop is presented in connection with Droop, on at The Dowse until 9 Oct 2022.
Cailtin Devoy lives and works in Wellington, New Zealand. Her practice examines sculptural materiality in relation to the body. Her focus is on the tactile, seductive and kinesthetic potential of materials, and their potential to engage the viewer in an embodied, rather than predominantly visual, experience. Her recent work employs humour as a critical tactic, drawing the viewer in to engage with knotted questions around sexuality, gender stereotypes and objectification.
Please note: This workshop is designed for adults, children aged 12+ may attend with an accompanying adult
