Kete Aronui film club presents The Orator (O Le Tulafale), a 2011 Samoan and Aotearoa film written and directed by Tusi Tamasese. It is the first ever Samoan feature film shot entirely in Samoa, in the Samoan language, with a Samoan cast and story.
The Orator is a contemporary drama about courage, forgiveness and love. Small in stature and humble, Saili lives a simple life with his beloved wife and daughter in an isolated, traditional village in the islands of Samoa. Forced to protect his land and family, Saili must face his fears and seek the right to speak up for those he loves.
Kete Aronui film club is a free film programme held at Gus Fisher Gallery every month, made possible with the help of Auckland Council.
