This weekend Michael Lett Books are delighted to offer 15% off all books in-store to kick off September. We have a range of wonderful newly-arrived titles—some of our recent favourites include Lauren Elkin's Art Monsters: Unruly Bodies in Feminist Art, a luxurious new monograph on Nicola L., and Amy Sillman's scintillating essay collection Faux Pas.
Michael Lett Books are also delighted to host the Tāmaki Makaurau launch of Energy Work.
Based on the exhibition of the same title staged at Te Pātaka Toi Adam Art Gallery in 2022, Energy Work provides comprehensive documentation of Kathy Barry and Sarah Smuts-Kennedy's presentations across the three levels of the gallery. It also features new essays by Robyn Maree Pickens, Jennifer Higgie and Adam Grener, and revised and republished texts by Natasha Conland and Marcus Moore. Together these writers provide a range of insights into the practices of each artist who have been working in their unique ways to redirect the languages of abstraction towards the manifestation of unseen energies and dimensions. Designed by Alice Bonifant and edited by Christina Barton, this book is an important contribution to the literature on contemporary artists in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Please join the artists and outgoing Adam Art Gallery Director Christina Barton to launch and celebrate this beautiful new publication.
Campbell Patterson's Notions is on view at Michael Lett until 2 September.
Imogen Taylor's Murmurs is on view at 3 East St until 7 October.
