Tessa Romano,mezzo-soprano, and Jeremy Woodside, pianist and composer, present a recital at the Gallery as part of New Zealand music month. This Friday evening features a premier of Jeremy Woodside’s newest song cycle The Turning Wheel alongside art songs by Aotearoa composers Gillian Whitehead, Dorothy Freed, and Jenny McLeod, and with rarely-heard Lieder by Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Josephine Lang.
Dr Tessa Romano is Head of Voice at the University of Otago and a native of New York, while Jeremy Woodside is originally from Christchurch and is the current accompanist for Christchurch City Choir and repetiteur for Toi Toi Opera, as well as a published composer with SOUNZ and Crescendo Music in Melbourne.
