City Gallery Wellington is excited to partner with the Wellington Branch of the NZIA to present City Talks. For June, Ellie Tuckey and Mitra Homolja from Studio Tēpu will present their talk Same Same but Different looking at Supporting youth agency and decolonisation through design

Mitra and Ellie share their reflections on their journey setting up Studio Tēpu, a small start-up in the architectural and urban design industry which collaborates with communities, designers and government bodies to develop custom codesign processes and tools that support communities to be truly part of decision-making.

They talk through some of the challenges, lessons, highs and lows of exploring how to support youth agency and decolonisation as Pākehā and Tauiwi in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Mitra Homolja and Ellie Tuckey are young women who are architecturally trained with experience in engagement with rangatahi (young people), emerging technology and supporting decolonisation. Ellie was born and bred in Pōneke Wellington, with family roots in Tairāwhiti Gisborne. Mitra grew up in Serbia and moved to Aotearoa New Zealand when she was 9 years old with her family, and is now based in Pōneke Wellington.

Please help us in supporting our communities’ well-being by wearing a mask and observing social distancing where possible while visiting.
