Join Taranaki archaeologist Ivan Bruce to discuss the language of the Taranaki War memorials in times of peace, encouraging the audience to reflect on whose history this is, and whose perspective of history is represented by these monuments?

Ivan Bruce is the current Heritage Taranaki chairman, and has worked as an archaeologist in the Taranaki region for over 20 years. During his career he has researched and reported widely on the battlegrounds and monuments of the Taranaki Wars. His work has required Ivan to grapple with the significance and meanings of these sites and their place in our landscape and he hopes to offer a balanced view in support of their continued existence.
