Raewyn Martyn is an artist and teacher living in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. She is a PhD candidate at Toi Rāuwharangi CoCA, Massey University, working to create biopolymer and biobased paint materials. Her writing focuses on 'biopolymer materialism', and understanding plastics as old materials.

Dr Raamy Majeed is a senior lecturer in philosophy at the University of Auckland. Prior to this he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, as part of the project ‘New Directions in the Study of Mind’. His research lies at the intersection of philosophy of mind and cognitive science.

Understanding art’s neural basis drives her recent research and writing into the evolutionary origins of art in human societies, combining findings from neurology, archaeology, and biology.
