It is a real privilege to invite you to the opening of A New World Has Begun: Painting Encounters with the Land by Amanda Watson.
Amanda's practice is characterised by the way that she paints outdoors in collaboration with the land, with a lineage to the process of painting, environmental and performative art. For this body of work, Amanda returned to the Taranaki area to spend time painting in uncultivated areas of Pukekura during 2022 and 2023. Having grown up in Taranaki, the beginning of this painting journey for Amanda, was accompanied by a sense of deep connection to the place. This exhibition opens on Friday 23 February at 5:30pm and the artist will be in attendance.
