In collaboration with Nelson Clay Week, we have the privilege of showing new work by Taarn Scott and Hana Pera Aoake in the upcoming show Deep History.

Taarn Scott and Hana Pera Aoake (Ngāti Hinerangi, Ngāti Mahuta, Tainui/Waikato, Poutini Kāi Tahu) are long term friends who make art together. Their collaborative works consider spaces that exist in between, such as the intercultural hyphen of Māori-Pākehā, with the hyphen representing a way of exchanging hau (breath) and sharing ideas and ways of understanding complicated histories with care and thoughtfulness. In this show, they consider how human and nonhuman organisms and ecosystems co-exist and are entangled in a greater network, encouraging a deeper exploration of the complex relationship amongst species.

Opening on Friday 13 September at 5:30pm, we would love to invite you to engage with and enjoy this inspiring exhibition of fired and unfired clay work. Both artists will be in attendance and work will be available to purchase.
