For Poetic Responses, local poets Jo Bragg (Ngati Porou), Ivy Lyden-Hancy (Te Rarawa/Ngaati Wairere/Vava’u/Falefa) and Ngaio Simmons (Ngāti Porou) perform poems inspired by Fred Graham, Toi Whakaata / Reflections. Graham’s works evoke Māori histories, pūrakau, and observations of the natural world.

Ngaio Simmons is a poet born and raised in Hawai’i. Now based in Tāmaki Makaurau, his work digs into such themes as diaspora, identity conflict, and home.
