Join us at Te Uru on Saturday 25 January, 2pm, for the opening of Pusi Urale's Mafine, a solo exhibition of acrylic paintings on canvas inspired by the female form.

The 81 year-old Samoan artist Pusi Urale explores abstract painting and pointillism using vibrant colours to express her unique point of view. This exhibition draws on her extensive knowledge of Polynesian patterns and flora native to the Moana Nui a Kiwa.

Pusi aims to share her work and encourage people young and old to enjoy and engage in art. Watch our website for information on two workshops she will host on Friday 14 February and Saturday 15 February, and don’t miss her talk at the opening.

Pusi is based in Avondale, Auckland. Inspired by her own artistic children, she discovered painting in her 50s. She was a finalist in the Wallace Art Awards in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, she had a successful solo exhibition at Fresh Gallery, Otara, where she sold most of her paintings on the first day. Pusi is a great grandmother and has six children and 17 grandchildren.
