dowse.org.nz

Get your hands in the soil and spend your morning getting to know the folk behind a community driven project brewing a revolution in Te Awa Kairangi, Lower Hutt. Join Common Unity Founder, Julia Milne, and artists Xin Cheng & Adam Ben-Dror for a working bee to transform the lawn in front Common Unity’s hub, The Remakery, into a place for community to gather.

Then sit down to a plant-based lunch prepared by Unity Kitchen and hear from Xin and Adam about Making Like A Forest, their collaboration with Common Unity for the exhibition From the Ground Up: Community, Cultivation and Commensality at The Dowse Art Museum.

Places are limited – book via Eventbrite.

This programme marks the opening of From the Ground Up: Community, Cultivation and Commensality, a new exhibition bringing together six different approaches and perspectives to food cultivation and its consumption. The collaboration of works look at the interdependent nature of food and people and specifically the conditions and ecologies of growing, making and sharing food.
