Everyone is welcome to celebrate the opening celebration of REND/ition, a new exhibition of work by Marci Tackett on Thursday 20 July at 5pm.
Wellington-based printmaker and tutor Marci Tackett brings a beautifully crafted and colourful selection of her works on paper to Te Atamira. Made over several years as an expression and processing of grief, these dynamic relief/ planographic prints, monotypes and photographic works are nonetheless full of life and explore new avenues of printmaking and colour.
Marci has spent the last ten years developing and evolving bodies of work which use torn fabric strips as a foundational element through which to acknowledge her (recovery from) grief.
REND/ition shares key works spanning this period of Marci’s art practice. In the earliest works, grief is explored as the central purpose. In later series, the torn strips are integrated into the fabric of Marci’s visual language; they continue to quietly pay respect, while the physical properties of the material inform new stories and explorations in print.
Trained in printmaking at the University of Colorado, Marci Tackett is now a tutor at The Learning Connexion in Wellington. She has exhibited widely over the last twenty years in New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
