Please join us for a response to He Pāoro Perea, performed by Riki Pirihi on Wednesday 24 November, 6pm.

Riki Pirihi (Ngāti Wai/Patuharakeke/Ngāti Māhanga Hourua) is a Multi-Instrumentalist, Producer and Sound Artist, based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa.

Pirihi released seven albums in 2020 across multiple imprints including; Noa Records, Buzzypoint, Secret Angels, and iiii Records. His acclaimed back-catalogue includes Cave Circles, Eru Dangerspiel and Trinity Roots. Pirihi is currently undertaking a PhD from the University of Otago, where he is developing a conducting lexicon centred in Indigenous musical approaches and spontaneous composition.

Following responses this year, Tino atu nei nga whetu in Whanau Marama Commercial Bay, and Ralph Hotere’s Black Phoenix at Te Puna O Waiwhetū Christchurch Art Gallery, Riki Pirihi will perform for a 30 minute response echoing a dialogue between both Heidi Brickell & Maia McDonald’s taonga toi.

We ask that you make your way to the gallery no later than 6pm as the performance will occur strictly at 6.15pm.

In accordance with COVID-19 event protocols, this will be a limited seated event and social distance measures will be in place.
