Join us for a free artist talk to celebrate the opening weekend of Simon Denny’s much-anticipated commission for Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. A 3D-printed, augmented reality (AR) artwork, Optimism is Denny’s most ambitious public work since his Venice Biennale exhibition in 2015. Here the artist, known for his lens on the tech sector, turns his attention to the space race, and New Zealand’s role in it.
In this artist talk, Denny will share the research and conceptual development underpinning this ambitious project, how it was realised, and the possibilities of AR in art practice today.
