Envy6011 is pleased to present Adrienne Martyn: Total Control. Six portraits of men photographed between 1979 – 1988. Join the gallery for the opening preview on 2 June, 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

In 1979 Adrienne began exploring portraiture, photographing friends in her Sydney flat before embarking on setting up a portrait studio back in Dunedin, 1980. At this time, she staged sittings in deserted rooms at Dunedin’s historic Excelsior Hotel. In 1985 she relocated to Auckland where, in 1986, she was commissioned by the National Art Gallery to photograph her series Artist Portraits. A survey of her portraiture was first shown at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery in 1988.

Adrienne Martyn (b. Wellington) is a Wellington based artist, her work is held in major New Zealand public collections including: Te Papa Museum of New Zealand, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, The Dowse, Auckland Art Gallery, Christchurch Art Gallery + more.
