Kete Aronui film club presents Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Winning the Palme d’Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, the film is the final installment in a multi-platform art project by Apichatpong Weerasethakul called “Primitive”.

Dying from kidney failure, Uncle Boonmee spends his final days in the countryside, where he has visions of his past lives and is visited by different spirits and loved ones. Contemplating the reasons for his illness, Boonmee treks through the jungle with his family to a mysterious hilltop cave—the birthplace of his first life.

Kete Aronui film club is a free film programme held at Gus Fisher Gallery every second Thursday of the month, made possible with the help of Auckland Council.
