The Art + Ecology workshop (March 22) fires up the Understory Regeneration Zone makerspace with a walk through the Forest & Bird-led Atawhai Whenua restoration project (Matiatia).
Arriving at the gallery, participants reflect on the project which over more than 30 years, has transformed eroding farmland into thriving forest. How do we look at nature? Is it whole landscapes or the plants and creatures within the landscape that inspire and intrigue us most? What about the things we can't readily see - the natural cycles of growth and decay, the hidden underground networks of fungal mycelium that knit the forest together?
