Rebecca Wallis is one of the most fascinating painters working in New Zealand today.
Her work is deeply entrenched in her personal experience as a mother of two daughters, and she draws on the joys, pains and observations of motherhood to create paintings that have a deep emotional resonance.
Sophisticated and sensual, these paintings grip the eyes and have an extraordinary capacity to allow the viewer to share an intimate (and near universal) human experience as a parent, woman and mother – exploring ideas around tension, separation, and release through various expressions of form and technique.
We are extremely proud to work with Rebecca, and this is her third solo show with us. She continues to grow her international reputation overseas, particularly in the UK and Australia.
