Diane Prince and Shona Rapira-Davies have a rich history of collaboration, beginning with Native Bird Productions 2004. This mixed media installation was conceived and developed by these two artists of shared Nga Puhi and Ngati Whatua descent and highlights their shared commitment to engaging audiences with the often controversial cultural, political and social issues of their time.
To quote Diane,
“We have always understood, is that our frailties are reflected in the frailties of our lands.
There are two titles to this show. Critical Mass and Tangoroa was forced to marry me.
These works are our visual response to the ongoing historical upheavals and the forces that have ruthlessly created the perfect chaos of our time: to our lands :to our seas and to our people."
