"I'm very proud to announce the representation of Julian McKinnon and celebrate his remarkable practice in our very first show of 2021.

When I first saw Julian's recent work (which he completed as part of his doctoral degree in fine arts at Elam) I was mesmerised for ages. I couldn't even tell if I 'liked' it or not, but the interface between artist and machine, AI and EQ, painting and science fiction completely fascinated me. (I ended up buying one anyway, and it continues to delight at home...)

Shining jewel-like from machine-carved aluminium panels, these artworks trigger all sorts of questions – from the 'hand of the maker' and the cutting of the machine, to sci-fi TV and film sets and the non-figurative work of the Islamic masters, there are tensions at play here that edge this work into a truly contemporary place.

Join us at the gallery and see for yourself – 'Elysium Mons' will be opening from 3-5pm this Saturday 16th January. Come along for a glass of something cold and a chat through the show. Happy New Year!"
