Kate Yesberg describes her new series Fortune as ‘big paintings about the future’.

Her work is always deeply personal, often reflecting her current mood or energy. While creating the Fortune series over the past year, Kate has been thinking about the connection between individual and collective freedom, and between our inner worlds and our capacity to engage in the world at large.

“I feel like quiet creative time is the fuel for a lot of outer work. It’s difficult to create without love, and I think love is the energy that helps us to feel open, centred and clear, and like we can keep going.”

Her paintings bring a brightness and optimism - embodying a hope in how things could be.

Fortune returns to a creative thread and structure previously seen in the 2021 Nina series, bringing the composition back to centre with simple geometric shapes creating detailed forms. In this series, bronze metallic paint is reintroduced to Kate’s palette, complementing the more familiar tones of lemon yellow, cobalt blue and dark green.

This exhibition will be Kate’s fifth solo show at {Suite} Gallery.
