In 2016 Birgit Krippner travelled on the ‘Spirit of Auckland’ from Wellington to the Panama Canal en-route to Columbia and finally Philadelphia where she disembarked.
“Sun and moon risings are powerful experiences. First, ocean and sky are one. You could not tell them apart. Slowly a fine line appeared in the distance – the horizon.
I first had this dream when I was a teenager, living in Austria, watching ships sail up and down the Danube. Shortly after moving to Seatoun in Wellington, while walking at the beach, I watched a cargo ship sailing past. This brought back my dream, into the present.”
