Working across an array of traditions, artist Clarissa Lim makes work that mediates upon the synthesis and eternal presence of nature and culture.

Central to her practice is the activity of painting. In this pursuit she embraces distinctive materials and recurring motifs that are symbolic of place, customs and gestures. Reflecting on personal and collective histories, natural heritage and hybridity, her work has evolved into a site of becoming that is universally accessible and attests to the trans-cultural experience.

Born in Wellington, New Zealand of Malaysian Chinese descent. Clarissa lives and works in London, UK. She received her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London in 2018 and gained her BFA from the Ilam School of Fine Arts (UC), Christchurch in 2014. Recent exhibitions include; Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts (2022); A Raw Garden, Curated by Pinch (2019); The Scent of the Sojourn, Bowen Galleries (2019) and Hyperbolised Tropic, 93 Baker St (2018).
