Sashaying between allegory and animistic world-building, Judy Darragh and Sean Kerr present In Kahoots, a collaborative exhibition played out in the key of a present-day fable. Encompassing sculpture, real-time animation, video, sound and wall-based collage, In Kahoots draws on Plato’s Allegory of the Cave to locate an electrifying meditation on collective resistance, transformation and revolution. This is, however, no sombre offering. Rather, with the mirth and generosity characteristic to both artists practice, In Kahoots revels in colour, humour and animated dance routines. Building on characteristics of the online media landscape, in particular, the shadow forms cast by a plethora of real fakes, fake reals, deep fakes and algorithymic manipulations, Darragh and Kerr hone in on the echos and imaginaries of emerging collective bodies, bouncing between the rocks of purification and poesis, revolution and revelry.
