While painting Parapara Panorama (Landscape in a Valley with a Room and a View) 2024 for the Nō Konei/From Here exhibition at Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery, I had many sideways thoughts - so here is the result of that ongoing re-configuration. The landscape view is captured and moved inside. The trees from Archibald Willis’s colonial-era print march across an elaborate room. Trees pop their heads up in a library and Pukenamu Queen’s Park’s old cypress jostles for a spot in an arsenic green drawing room. The cushion has jumped ship.
