Michael Lett is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Zac Langdon-Pole. This will be the artist’s sixth solo presentation with the gallery.
Interbeing is comprised of entirely new work that has been developed both during, and in response to, his travels on the BMW Art Journey (2018-19). The term interbeing was coined by the Buddhist monk Thích Nhất Hạnh. One analogy he gives for the term, is ‘to see a cloud in a piece of paper’: the idea being that paper is made from trees, trees create clouds, and clouds feed trees, which make paper.
The exhibition will also coincide with the inaugural New Zealand launch of the first book length publication dedicated to the artist. Constellations published by Hatje Cantz (2020) documents his BMW Art Journey as well as offers a comprehensive survey of his work from the past six years. It features contributions by Christina Barton, Thomas Girst, Tendai John Mutambu, Marc Spiegler, András Szántó and the artist himself. Details for a book launch event will be announced during the course of the exhibition.
