A double exhibition by artist Lauren Lysaght. Kutarere Sunrise reflects on gender roles but is rooted in nostalgia. It mixes seriousness with humour and blends female craft with reflections on male labour, in a heartfelt tribute to Lysaght’s father Nelson, a butcher born and raised in Kutarere. It’s joined by Trifecta, a thought-provoking installation dealing with racing and the associated social issues surrounding gambling, a subject relevant to many in New Zealand society.
