Please join us at Starkwhite Auckland from 2.00 - 4.00pm Saturday 15 March to celebrate the opening of Australian artist Laith McGregor, Long Days, Longer Nights. The artist will be in attendance.

Australian artist Laith McGregor’s practice spans drawing, painting, sculpture, and video, all mediums which enable his ongoing exploration of the grey area between reality and illusion. In his latest solo exhibition Long days, longer nights, McGregor grapples with the overstimulating effects of our information-saturated environment. He turns to the meditative process of painting, informed by the history of the exaggerated yet silent art of the Mime. He writes ‘Painting and the Mime were aligning in the studio and finding a coexistence. The slow rhythm of arranging figurative representation is akin to the actor, silently constructing the scene, building layers to project an inner expression.’ He asks ‘Perhaps we need to find that which cannot be grasped, to locate this elusive space between fact and fiction?’
