RE-FLECTIONS

(Definition: the reflection of light and the serious thought or consideration)

We live in a strange world that has turned our way of life upside down. But accompanied by this fact, it is maybe the time itself, whose weight accumulated in ones life- talking about myself, living in the autumn of it- and makes us consider about the essence of being here. I believe, that art has the capacity to express the primary, and perhaps invisible subtext, which cannot be expressed by words.

In the beginning of this year I have approached a realm, which was unknown to me and made me dive into an unchartered psychological journey. I had a stroke that deprived my language. My verbal communication came to a halt and I couldn’t make meaningful sense. I had the feeling, that I was in a forest of ruined words, which were like hurdles of trees, I had to climb over in order to give them shape again.

Shortly after coming home from hospital, I went into my studio. This was my starting point for my exhibition. My light fell over the vulnerability of our senses and revised paths of my thinking and art. I remembered the most beautiful and truly appropriate text of Paul to the Corinthians (1-13)

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

These words serve as my guiding rope. Each of my works represent generally “poetic” or “metaphoric” elements, that can be combined into a multifaceted narrative. The number of art works in an exhibition is limited. Nevertheless here they suggest an expression of RE-FLECTION, in part of a retrospective of my past artistic positions, a glimpse to my own history, a series of open, unwritten but enigmatic “books”, but also in a greater sense, a hint into our cultural origin.
