Respiration is part of a plants processes to produce the air that we breathe.
This is an ongoing series of works that began in 2017. The imagery is not meant to be perfect which adds character and authenticity to the images. The negative space, and strong framing draw the viewer in. The subject in its most simple and humble form appear to thrive. The imagery is carefully constructed using window light. This series has been captured in camera and developed further in post production before committing the images to C-type photographic fine art paper, through this process Spid is able to create dramatic photographs of his subjects.
Born in 1968 in Ngatea, Spid has gained international recognition for his work which often focuses on portraiture, landscape and still life. Spid is a contemporary New Zealand photographer. His photography is known for its intimate exploration of his subjects, inviting the viewer to delve deeper into these subjects.
He has received various awards and accolades for his contributions to the art of photography locally and internationally including the International Photography Awards, Lürzer's Archive, Communication Arts, Art Directors Club and many more.
