Established in 2007 by gallery director David Alsop, {Suite} represents both emerging and mid career artists from New Zealand and Australia in a heritage building on Ponsonby Road, Auckland. The gallery has numerous viewing spaces and a courtyard for outdoor sculpture as well as a permanent display of Ans Westra photographs.

{Suite} Gallery will show a two part exhibition programme. Thursday and Friday will be a group presentation including Wayne Youle, Tia Ansell and Angela Singer. After a recent trip to Northland, Wayne Youle has been working on paintings which explore his whakapapa to the area. He will exhibit a major new work comprising five large scale canvas panels – his Northland Panels - installed as a compendium.
Tia Ansell delves into themes of coded histories in her weaving-paintings, intertwining narratives that explore observational patterns and the urban choreography present in her environment. She investigates architectural compositions, historical narratives, and the nature of weaving as both a surface and a structure—highlighting its significance as one of humanity’s original technologies.
The weekend will see our stand transformed into a room from Ans Westra’s house. Ans was a huge collector and the stand will pay homage to her living room. Junk & Disorderly will provide the furniture and decorative items and the walls will be filled with her photographs, and portraits of Ans by other artists including Selwyn Muru and Barry Crump.
