When The Dust Settles | An Evolving Exhibition Series & Fundraiser | 18 August — 19 October 2021 (see below for more information)

When The Dust Settles has and will continue to be adapted to unfold digitally. Artspace Aotearoa look forward to sharing a full catalogue of the works included with you soon, and hopefully, to inviting you back to the gallery space to encounter them in person ahead of the fundraising auction planned for 19 October 2021.

The artists included in The have made significant contributions to the gallery's programme from their establishment in 1987 until today. Artspace are extremely grateful for their tautoko and for the stories and knowledge they have brought to this initiative.

These artists have contributed notable works towards When The Dust Settles — some new, and some with storied exhibition and publication histories. These works will join the catalogue of a fundraising auction planned to generate the last necessary funds to complete three newly designed spaces in the Artspace Aotearoa basement.

––––––––––––––––––––––––

Over the last 34 years, Artspace Aotearoa has presented over 400 exhibitions by more than 2000 artists. For When The Dust Settles, 34 seminal artists return to Artspace Aotearoa to contribute significant works towards an ambitious and unconventional exhibition series and fundraiser.

These artists have all made significant contributions to the story of Artspace Aotearoa, and have pledged their support to this project in recognition of the considerable impact the organisation has made on their practices, and more broadly, on contemporary art discourse and practice in Aotearoa. Artspace Aotearoa is extremely grateful for their support, as well as that of the gallerists, writers, and other members of our community who have come together to celebrate the history of our organisation, and tautoko our future.

From Wednesday 18 August, new and existing works will appear in four two-week exhibitions, culminating in a fundraising auction on Tuesday 19 October. This auction intends to generate the last necessary funds to complete three newly designed spaces in the Artspace Aotearoa basement. These include a cinema and project space equipped to show moving image work from Aotearoa and overseas, a workshop open to artists and the public, and an international and local residency studio that will house four residents per year, stimulating non-result based artistic research.
