Artist Statement:
My work has recently focused on things around me. We bought the Martinborough Bakery nearly 4 years ago and I have been particularly intrigued by bread, the process of baking and the environment of the bakery.
These paintings are about the life of bread - the feel, texture, even the smell of bread and pastries. I want the paint to convey these sensations, but also at the same time, have the viewer never forgetting that what they are looking at is always just paint. This dichotomy, I hope, gives the paintings a tension between memory and reality.
