Following her inclusion in our 2018 exhibition, The Thought That Counts, Auckland-based artist, Christina Read, presents a new solo exhibition at McLeavey Gallery from 25 March – 25 April 2020. Titled Time After Time (a subverted plan), the exhibition explores a theme central to Christina’s practice—the tension between a never ending list of things to do and time running out. The exhibition will include colourful hand-cut collages on card interspersed with text and language.

Christina emigrated from the United Kingdom in 2003. She has an MFA from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent Institute of Arts and Design, Canterbury, England. Other recent projects include 1. Here’s a Plan (things to do), Ilam Campus Gallery, Christchurch (2017), The Brain, Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery, Auckland (2015) and Database of Happiness, Sculpture on the Gulf (2011).
