Philippa Blair is one of New Zealand’s foremost abstract painters with a career history of forty five years both in New Zealand and USA. Exhibiting across NZ since the 1970’s and in solo exhibitions in New York in the 1980’s, to significant museum exhibitions in Los Angeles, the city which became her home for twenty years (1995 – 2014).
Hers is a painter’s career, a lifetime dedicated to the expessive qualities and possibilities of paint, she belongs to a generation of women artists who embraced abstractionism, the former domain of the angsty male, she reveled in the excitement painterly freedom could, and continues to bring.
